About the Job
ProblemShared has a newly formed Data Office, and we’re looking for a Head of Analytics to lead its development and shape how we use data to improve lives.
We believe in “data for good” - using insights to help neurodivergent people better understand themselves, enable practitioners to deliver more effective care, and guide teams in improving support. We're building a modern data platform (Fivetran → Databricks + DBT → PowerBI) that integrates data from clinical, operational and corporate systems into a safe, accessible, and reliable model, enabling real-time insight and continuous improvement.
At ProblemShared, we blend people, data and technology to support individuals on their mental health or neurodevelopmental journey - and we believe you can do the most meaningful work of your career here.
About Us
We are a practitioner-led, CQC-regulated, digital mind health provider, working with a community of expert practitioners to broaden access to the highest quality care for people across the UK. By leveraging technology, we aim to provide scalable and personalized solutions that enhance mental well-being and bridge gaps in mental healthcare delivery.
We work in partnership with institutions such as the NHS, insurance companies and universities to deliver therapy, psychiatry, neurodevelopmental assessments and post diagnostic care for adults, children and young people, mainly around Autism and ADHD. Key to our mission is the innovative and effective use of data analytics and resulting insights.
The Role
You’ll lead our Data Engineer, Senior Analytics Engineer and Data Analyst in delivering high-impact, self-service analytics. You’ll set strategy, coach the team, and stay hands-on for key analyses and dashboards. You’ll ensure we never lose sight of clinical and commercial priorities, and that every team member has the context to cover for each other when priorities shift or people are on leave.
What you'll do
- Team leadership & cross-coverage: Coach and rotate knowledge so every engineer and analyst can step into adjacent specialisms when needed.
- Strategic road-mapping: Partner with the CDO to evolve our ingestion-through-Gold pipeline, governance and self-service maturity.
- Hands-on delivery: Build or peer-review complex PowerBI or R/Python-generated reports; present insights to senior stakeholders.
- Stakeholder partnership: Translate clinical, ops and finance needs into prioritised backlogs; ensure platform SLAs are met.
- Hiring & culture: Recruit engineers and analysts who thrive in a flexible, neurodiversity-welcoming, tool-agnostic environment.
What you will bring to the role
Must have
- Extensive experience as a data professional in established teams, with leadership of engineers or analysts
- STEM degree (including Social Sciences)
- Experience in SQL + working in code (Python or R)
- Hands-on with at least one BI framework (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, R/Shiny, Python/Dash)
- Strong project-management skills: backlog grooming, sprint planning or kanban, stakeholder alignment
- Empathetic, inclusive leadership and clear communication of technical trade-offs and the importance of analytical and engineering rigour to non-technical stakeholders in their language
Nice to have
- Prior budget ownership or P&L exposure
- Multi-platform fluency (i.e. experience with multiple data systems, e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, Teradata, SQL Server, etc.)
- Proven track record in an established data team using Git-backed CI/CD and good development practices
- Demonstrated success in building cohesive and resilient teams (e.g. using cross-training, documentation, building ‘T-shaped’ skills profiles)
- Experience operating in a remote-first environment
- Familiarity with clinical data governance (GDPR, CQC) or Healthcare sector
- Certifications in agile/project-management (e.g. Scrum Master)
- Knowledge/experience of: healthcare industry esp. mental health; neurodiversity
What makes us different
- Fully remote, flexible: Work where you do your best thinking.
- Neurodiversity-welcoming: We encourage applications from autistic, ADHD and other neurodivergent candidates.
- Tool-agnostic, outcome-driven: We value mental agility and diverse tool experience (Snowflake, Redshift, DuckDB, Databricks, Python, R…) over narrow specialism.
- Inclusive by design: We focus on potential over pedigree, and adapt our process to support your needs. We also know that everyone has a life outside work, so we’re happy to discuss flexible working. We embrace difference and individuality and are proud to be equal opportunity employer.
What else do we offer you
- Employer matched pension
- 30 days annual leave + public holidays + the option to buy and sell additional leave & extended leave options such as sabbatical leave
- Private health insurance
- Enhanced family friendly policies
- Flexible working with the option of free co-working
- All company and team in person meet ups
- Access to a range of wellbeing activities
- Access to development / training opportunities to support your career ambitions
- One volunteering day a year
